Mean people really, really suck. Petty people. People who make fun of other people. People who connive and control. People who point and laugh. (Except Nelson, he points and laughs because he hurts inside. He still sucks and his behavior is not okay, but we understand his motivation and, thus, empathize.) I used to think ignoring mean people was the way to be a bigger person than they and that if I ignored them, they wouldn't get the attention they were so obviously seeking and would eventually quit. This ignores the basic truth that many mean people are self-confident and, therefore, self-approving. Even if they aren't, they find hangers-on and wanna-bes who egg them on and the cycle perpetuates itself.
The same goes for small-minded people. Those who can't see beyond size or sexual orientation or income or class. I thought if I ignored them, they couldn't hurt me. Now look who's in charge. I find myself wanting to kick asses and take names. I want to defend the little guy, be it from slum lords, corporations, or our own government.
Now if only I could manage to get off my ass...
I have goals, aspirations and ideas without the time, money and energy to both follow my dreams and support my needs. I HATE my limitations and it frustrates me that I can't do so many things normal people can though everyone thinks I look normal and I must just be lazy because I'm fat. That frustrates me on SPECIAL level.
So that's me for the moment. Take me or leave me.
